The pictue on the right shows an African Child trying to get drinking water.
I found out in this article that there are some water companies in small, developing countries like Bolivia, Honduras, and Nicaragua that are charging high sums of money for clean drinking water. Drinking water can be hard to get in these countries, but at least it was free. Now, these companies are making it even harder for people without a lot of money to get drinking water.
I am shocked that companies would do this to such poor countries. They ar taking advantage of countries that already need more water, and are making it harder to get. These companies say that they are trying to help these countries. But it is obvious that it is just for a big profit.
1. Do you think it is right for these companies to charge for clean water?? why??
2.What would you do to prevent these companies from charging such high fees?
3.Why do you think these companies are doing what they are doing??

Like Jordan, I am also shocked! I can't believe that a company would actually take advantage of a poor country like that! If I was apart of that company, I would be ashamed of myself. These people in these poor countries are already lacking water, and now the companies are making it harder for the countries to get more water!
ReplyDeleteIn answer to Jordan's question, I do not think it is right for these companies to charge for clean water, especially to these poor countries. These countries are already poor, so they don't have the money to pay for clean water. If they don't get clean water, then many people in these countries will die. The population of these poor countries will decrease rapidly, and this all will happen because of the selfish companies charging for clean water.

That is ridiculous. To further exploit these people is inhumane. Water companies are already pretty much raking in the dough, and now they have to take money from third world countries? It is crazy that they would even think about doing this, let alone really doing it.
ReplyDeleteAnswering Jordan's question, I think that if we protest the company and get the issue a little more public it would be stopped. If more people become aware of this insane problem,it will make the companies see that they are wrong. Another answer could be the people of Africa boycotting the companies water. If people would buy them clean water for maybe a month, the companies will hopefully back out.
That is outrageously outrageous. These companies don't NEED money to live. The fat cats in the corporate world are depriving other human beings of their right to live. They should be GIVING these people money, not taking it from them.
ReplyDeleteIt is sick and inhumane to charge high prices for water to people that are dying because of a lack of it. The reason their water is not clean is because they are already poor. Charging money for the water to be clean is like beating a dead horse. They have absolutely no right to make a profit from the suffering people in these third world countries.
