Picture- This is a picture of the new species of dolphin found in AustraliaSummary:Recently in Australia, they have discovered a rare new type of dolphin. It is called Tursiops australis. There are only 150 of them believed to be in existence. There are only a couple of places along the coast of Australia in which they inhabit. People had thought they were bottlenose dolphins before, but they were actually an entire different species. They were living right under the Australian people's noses the whole time. They have only found 3 new dolphin species since 1800! It definitely helps scientists get a more accurate biodiversity for the coast of Australia.
Reflection: I think it is very cool that they have found a new species. It is very rare to find a new species of dolphin. I think it would be awesome to be able to name your own species. If I found a species of dolphins, I would name it Jarretticus dolphinius

I strongly agree with Jarrett by saying that I think that it is extremely cool that there was another species of dolphin found in Australia. I also would love to be able to name a dolphin species after me!
ReplyDeleteNow that I'm thinking about all of the unknown species that are swimming under us while we are in the ocean, it kind of creeps me out, knowing that there are millions of random creatures below me that have never even been discovered yet.

Dolphins are quite chill so I am glad that they found a new species! It would be awesome to name your own species because it would be a way for people to remember you. It is strange knowing there are unknown species because we don't know what they can do. I would name my own species how it looks!

It would be amazing if i found a new species and if i did it would be called The Jordanian...(whatever animal it is)
